Johan Kristoffersson’s dream came true at Höljes RX

Johan Kristoffersson’s dream came true at Höljes RX

The magic weekend. The one that everyone looks forward to. World RX of Sweden – the one that Johan Kristoffersson has dreamt about winning. And guess what? That dream came true.

Johan Kristoffersson and Volkswagen World RX Team Sweden dominated another weekend with the Polo GTI Supercar on top form on home turf at World RX in Höljes. Johan took his third victory in four rounds and extends his lead in the Drivers’ Championship with the team leading the way in the Team Championship as well.

It wasn’t until the 30.000 Swedes stopped cheering for him that Johan had a moment to reflect on what he had accomplished. His latest victory, the one he really wanted.

”This is the win I wanted so badly” said a delighted and emotional Johan in front of the supporting fans in Höljes. ”It means so much to me to take this victory in front of my home crowd, and of course, this is the whole team’s home track. I’m extremely happy for everyone involved.”

”Yesterday (Saturday) everything went great and we were leading by the end of the day, but I was completely focused on day two – I knew that was when I had to deliver. As always, the car was perfect so I’d like to thank the team, and not just everyone who were here, but also everybody that works so hard for us at Volkswagen Motorsport.”

”When this deal for the season was settled, I had a dream that we might be able to do something special, but could we make magic happen? I didn’t know. But now I think it looks like that’s exactly what we’re starting to do” said Johan.

After the seventh round of the 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championship, Johan leads the championship and is 31 points ahead of his team-mate Petter Solberg with Mattias Ekström another seven points behind Solberg.

The next event in the series takes place in Trois-Rivière in Canada on August 4th to 6th.

Norwegian Hell – heavenly victory for Johan Kristoffersson

Johan Kristoffersson took a sensational second victory in three rounds and extended his lead over the defending world champion in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, Mattias Ekström, with eight points at the weekend’s event in Norway.

Johan once again proved pace in his Volkswagen Polo GTI Supercar at the sixth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Hell, Norway. He was quickest in Q3, won his semi-final and dominated the final until he could secure the top position ahead of Andreas Bakkerud and Sébastien Loeb. The delighted winner admitted that his win even reduced the pain in his foot after a rather unusual accident. Johan got his right foot run over by a Peugot mechanic before the first heat on Saturday and struggled with severe pain throughout the race. The tough guy from the city of Arvika refused to be examined by a doctor and insisted on driving the race despite his pain.

”This is amazing” said Johan. ”I’ve said it more than once but this team is really special. The way we work together to get these results. It was a tough weekend. It wasn’t easy with the wet conditions on Saturday, but on Sunday our Polo GTI Supercar was just sensational. The final was actually okay, it all went according to plan. I feel for my team-mate Petter though since he didn’t make it to the final, especially as this is his home track. Next time we’re on my home turf in Höljes and I really hope I can repeat this result again. But for now we’re celebrating another victory.”

It was not just the Swedish superstar who left Hell in a good mood. A hat trick in wins for PSRX Volkswagen World RX Team Sweden gives the Sweden based team an 81 points’ lead in the Team Championship.

Johan Kristoffersson and PSRX Volkswagen World RX Team Sweden is currently dominating the FIA World Rallycross Championship. After winning the last round in Belgium, Johan finished second behind his team-mate Petter Solberg this weekend at Lydden Hill in Great Britain and with that he also takes the lead of the championship.

PSRX Volkswagen Sweden once again proved to be unbeatable at the season’s fifth round of the World RX. Last round’s winner Johan Kristoffersson showed great speed all weekend through and eventually finished second behind his team-mate Petter Solberg in the final – but also moves up to the first position in the overall championship standings.

”This result is all thanks to the team” said the Swedish rallycross superstar. ”I still can’t believe what we have achieved in just a few months – and the car keeps getting better and faster. This team never stops working and Petter and I are the ones who get to show what the team can do. It’s a real honor and a privilege. But today, just like last time in Belgium, we could give something back to the team.”

The Sweden based team’s first double victory – a victory that came right after the team’s double podium at the last round in Belgium – extends PSRX Volkwagen’s lead in the Team Championship by 70 points.

”This double victory is the perfect way to say thanks to everyone in PSRX Volkswagen Sweden for their hard work. It is also an emotional victory for the team. Rallycross is a very, very big part of my life and to get a result like this on the weekend we celebrate the 50th anniversary of this incredible sport is something that makes me and the whole team really proud” said Johan.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship continues with the Norwegian round in Hell on June 9th.

The speed and the potential has been there since the first race of the season. At Circuit Jules Tacheny in Belgium, Johan Kristoffersson delivered the best possible result when he took PSRX Volkswagen World RX Sweden’s first victory.

Just like last weekend at Hockeinheim, both PSRX Volkswagen World RX cars topped the leaderboard already from start. But this time Johan Kristoffersson stayed there until the final lap on the circuit in Mettet. He did not only take his third World RX podium of the year, but also the team’s first victory.

”This is something really special. What an amazing feeling. I know that my team-mate Petter and I have been talking about this before, but we are both very pleased with the way the team cooperates with Volkswagen Motorsport and the speed we had this weekend was a proof of that. The car was perfect for me and from the very first lap, I’ve been driving with a big smile on my face” said Johan.

With his victory, Johan narrowed down the gap in the overall standings and now he is only three points from the championship lead after the fourth round.

”I’m very, very happy with how the season has begun” said Johan. ”We all know that this is a new team with new people that are working together. It couldn’t have gone any better – the teamwork is perfect and we keep getting faster and faster. The team championship is going really well for PSRX Volkswagen Sweden and Petter and I both reduced the gap to Mattias Ekström in the lead this weekend – that is fantastic!”

The FIA World Rallycross Championship continues with the fifth round at Lydden Hill in Great Britain on May 26th.

Second place for Kristoffersson at Hockenheim

Johan Kristoffersson took his second podium in a row when he finished second at Sunday’s final at World RX of Hockeinheim. He also strengthens his second place in the overall Drivers’ Championship.

Johan Kristoffersson was in a magnificent form at the third round of this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship. He won his semi-final and in the final, he finished second with his Volkswagen Polo GTI Supercar.

“PSRX Volkswagen Sweden did an amazing job this weekend. This team is still really new – don’t forget we didn’t start until just a few months ago – but at round one the team was fourth in the final, last time we were third, this time we are second. We want to continue this progress in Belgium and hopefully finish first! My team-mate Petter had a tough one, but for me things were a bit more straightforward. The Polo GTI Supercar is showing amazing speed, but we came up against a really tough guy in the final. I have to congratulate Mattias Ekström, he drove six really strong laps in that last race” said Johan.

The result gives PSRX Volkswagen Sweden an extended lead in the Team Championship and the team looks forward to continue the season at Circuit Jules Tacheny in Belgium already on May 12th to 14th.

”The big thing for me, for Petter and the team is what we are doing in the Team Championship; 17 points clear is very, very impressive for this new team. We’re still learning, we’re still developing and we’re still getting faster – but this weekend we showed how to work as a team. I’m proud to be part of PSRX Volkswagen Sweden” said Johan.

Johan Kristoffersson took PSRX Volkswagen Sweden’s first podium when he finished third in the Portugese round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

PSRX Volkswagen World RX Team Sweden dominated the second round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Montalegre in Portugal with Johan Kristoffersson and his team-mate Petter Solberg in the lead from the first qualifying heat.

Just like at the first race of the season in Barcelona earlier this month, Johan made it to the final and was impressively fast. He and Petter were first and second in the first part of the final race in their Volkswagen Polo GTI Supercars. After a tough and thrilling battle, Johan finished third and took the newly formed team’s first podium.

”I slipped in behind Petter in the final” said Johan. ”The plan was to stay there for a while and it worked well until he suffered a puncture. It was yet another good weekend for the team but it would have been even nicer to score the win – I think we were both fast enough to make it. I missed the joker lap in Q3 and it was really frustrating and maybe it cost me the chance of a better start position in the final. But it happens. It was simply a mistake, nothing else” explained Johan.

Even though they couldn’t hold on to their lead, Johan is full of praise for the Sweden based team and the upgrades and improvements that has been made to their Polo GTI since the season opener.

”I have to say that the team has done an amazing job after Barcelona. Everybody has worked very hard, we had things that needed to be fixed with the car and it’s all starting to come together now. I’m just looking forward to the next race. Petter and I are determined to come back with this year’s first victory for PSRX Volkswagen Sweden” said Johan.

Johan is currently in second place in the drivers’ championship standings, while PSRX Volkswagen Sweden is still leading the team championship.
